Rachel Fellig Photography, located in Brooklyn, NY and Miami Beach, FL. I'm a natural light photographer and shoot mostly outdoors so I follow the good weather. I travel back and forth depending on the season. This started as a part time business about 4 years ago and about 2 1/2 years ago I was becoming busy enough that I was able to leave my job and devote myself to the best job in the world, full time.
Why photography?
Photography is a montage of so many things that I love. Life. Beauty. Memories. Family. My decision to be a photographer, in essence, is just a path for myself that allows me to spend my days zoning in on the things that make life so incredibly beautiful.
Why do you use AsukaBook?
What do I NOT love about AsukaBook? :) I've ordered photo books from quite a number of vendors, but no one has the crisp colors and clarity like AsukaBook. The pictures jump off the pages. My photographs are filled with bright, lustrous colors, and I trust AsukaBook to print them so it's translated into my photo books. The NeoClassic is my favorite - I love the padded cover. The hard, lay flat pages take the book to a whole new level, never mind making them more durable for homes with children. The NeoClassic is a client fave.
Any selling tips for other photographers?
My clients photos are presented to them in an online slideshow with music selected specifically for their gallery. I am constantly told how my clients watch their slideshows over and over. They love seeing their pictures one after another, telling the story of their family. Who they are today, in this very moment. The perfect way to relive that forever is through an AsukaBook. It allows their photos to sit hand in hand, telling a story...their story.
What else should people know about you?
I come from a family of 7, with 6 sisters. I remember when I first started with photography. I experimented A LOT. I had to come up with creative ways to bribe my sisters into coming with me to hang sideways out of trees, jump in the air barefoot in middle of busy parking lots, pose in urban areas next to homeless people and strange odors…I never quite had a plan. I always had a sense of what I was looking for, but never a plan. Hats off to my sisters. Their effervescent personalities allowed them to go along with me. When I’d ask them to do something, they’d give me a funny face but more times than not, they’d give it a shot. Pun intended! …*knee slap* haha. At this point, they’re usually more than willing to run out and take some pictures with me and they are hands down, my absolute favorite subjects. Their faces and their personalities inspire me.
