Tell us about your company or studio.
Tambi Lane Photography is located in Bend, Oregon inside of Studio 3, a photographer's cooperative, which I am also a co-owner of with Jeff Kennedy of IJK Productions. I have been in business part-time since 2005 and moved to full-time in 2009. My specialties include Boudoir, Fashion and Senior Photography. I also photograph limited weddings each year.
Why photography?
I have always been an artist, first with painting and drawing, and then found my passion for photography in High School. I could never achieve the look with my pencil that I could get with my camera. There was just something very honest and real about a photograph. I have always been fascinated with my grandparent's old BW photos and would spend hours looking through family photo albums...plus I feel like a superhero with a camera in my hand.
Why do you use AsukaBook?
I love AsukaBook for many reasons. They have an incredible staff who are always so helpful and amazing! The products are incredible and being a local company is always a bonus. My favorite AsukaBook product is the DVD Presentation Book, with a matte finish.
Any selling tips for other photographers?
I'm not a sales person. I hate the high pressure sale and try not to have that be a part of anything in the studio. I try hard to establish a relationship with my clients. I give them an experience that lasts through the sales process and things basically sell themselves. I think if they have had an amazing time, and have beautiful photos to prove it, you don’t really have to do anything else...just guide them to the best products around. In the end, the experience is key, and the photos are just a bonus. I once had a client tell me, even if I had completely ruined every photo taken, she had such an amazing time, she didn’t care and would still brag about me to all her friends.
What else should people know about you?
I am a mother of two girls, 15 and 12. I have a thing for feathers, big earrings and cowboy boots. A session with me can be a bit silly...but you are sure to have a great time. I’m a little quirky, or so I’ve been told, so if you see me on the street give me the *Jazz* Hands wave. (I’ll laugh real hard, you’ll wonder why and will have to ask...then we’ll be instant friends...and the rest will be history)
What do you love most about traveling to photograph your clients?
I love experiencing new things and places, meeting new people and getting away. It’s never boring when your studio is in North Carolina one week and Cancun Mexico the next, and the food is ALWAYS incredible.
